BBnB Cleaning & Safety Policy

At BBnB, safety and cleanliness are essential. Every rental item offered through the Platform must meet the highest standards of hygiene and functionality.

This Cleaning & Safety Policy (“Policy”) applies to all users, including Providers (who provide rental items) and Customers (who use them). By listing, renting, or using rental items via the BBnB Platform, you agree to follow these requirements.

1. General Responsibilities

  • Providers must ensure each item is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected (where appropriate), and inspected before every rental.
  • Customers must return items in a clean and safe condition.
  • Both parties are responsible for checking items for visible damage, missing parts, or safety risks before handover and return.

The principle is: “Return items in the same condition you would expect to receive them”.

2. Cleaning Requirements

Each item must be processed as follows before handover:

  1. Inspected: Check for breakage, leaks, damage, or missing parts.
  2. Machine-washable parts: Launder linens and seat covers with appropriate detergent at a minimum of 60°C (where fabric allows).
  3. Hard surfaces: Clean with soap and water, then disinfect high-touch surfaces with an approved non-toxic disinfectant.
  4. Drying: Allow disinfectant to act for the time stated on the label and air-dry completely before reuse/storage to prevent mold.
  5. Final check: Confirm the item is safe, functional, and clean before making it available.

3. Hygiene & Safety Standards

  • Approved Products: Use cleaning products compliant with EU and Swiss consumer safety regulations.
  • Child Safety: Strong or hazardous chemicals (e.g., bleach) should not be used unless explicitly required for disinfection and rinsed thoroughly. Items must be free from sharp edges or unsafe DIY repairs.
  • Cross-Contamination: Cleaning equipment (cloths, sponges) must be washed or replaced between items.

4. Health & Safety Guidance

  • Safe Handovers: We encourage low-contact handovers where possible.
  • Infection Prevention: If an item was exposed to an infectious illness (e.g., flu, stomach bug) in the Customer's or Provider's household, the responsible party must perform enhanced cleaning and disinfection before the item is exchanged or re-listed.

5. Liability and Compliance

  • Providers are responsible for ensuring items meet applicable safety, hygiene, and consumer product standards (EU Product Safety Directive, Swiss Product Safety Act).
  • Non-Compliance: Failure to comply with this Policy may result in account suspension or removal from the Platform. BBnB reserves the right to request proof of cleaning in the event of a dispute.
  • Reporting: Customers must report items that are unsafe, damaged, or improperly cleaned immediately upon receipt to support@bbnb.ch.
